Mr Moonlight – 17.1hh Gelding

17.1hh ‘Rocking Horse’ Grey Gelding, Foaled 30th April 2011

Mr Moonlight was imported from Ireland by Sally in June 2017.

Before starting this advert, I already know I am going to run out of superlatives to describe this absolute hunk of a horse!

He is simply drop dead gorgeous. With his knock ‘em dead good looks, Mr Moonlight would no doubt rise to the top of his class in the Showing world, where he would totally fit the bill in Maxi Cob or Heavy Weight Hunter classes.

And if looks could kill, you’ll definitely swoon over his way of going under saddle too! He is a divinely light ride on the flat, and despite his stature is not at all heavy in the hand. Mr Moonlight is an obedient ride in the arena, and moves nicely off of the leg into a soft contact.

Whilst he is together enough on the flat to please an experienced rider, don’t think for one minute that he is too sharp for a novice – this is certainly not the case! In fact, Mr Moonlight is regularly used for total beginner lessons on our Riding School, as he is just so stoic. He really imparts a feeling of security and stability, and is such a balanced ride that novice riders feel instantly at ease.

Although he hasn’t done much jumping with us yet; we have popped him round a small course of fences and he showed great scope, together with the ability to go off of any stride – his adjustability to a fence is really quite impressive for a horse of his size. He is bold and brave to his fences but totally safe, even when jumped by our tiny and very lightweight Yard Manager – in a snaffle!!

Out on the Irish hunting field Mr Moonlight has certainly proven his worth. Although he hasn’t hunted with us yet (purely because the season has yet to begin!), we are certain he is going to cut a dashing figure at the meet! We simply can’t wait to get him out and show him off.

A pleasure to handle, he is very easy to groom and tack up. You certainly never notice his size when handling him, until that is you go to put the saddle on!

Mr Moonlight is one of those horses that has people going into raptures and doing double takes wherever he goes. Whichever lucky person gets to take him home, you can guarantee he will be the envy of everyone else’s eye (including mine!)

Mr Moonlight is sold with a Green Irish Horse Board passport.
