Jill – 16hh Mare

16hh Grey Mare, Foaled 30th April 2013

Loan Jill for £500 pcm shared use.

Or £650 pcm sole use.

Both to include livery, shoeing and worming.

Jill was imported from Ireland by Sally in August 2017.

This smashing mare would make an excellent hunter, riding club horse or happy hacker!

Very nicely put together, Jill is a really nice example of modern Irish breeding. She is a sports horse type with a ‘leg at each corner’ and enough quality to give her paces cadence and athleticism.

Whilst she has not done masses of work on the flat in the arena; she has all of the raw ingredients in place and will undoubtedly progress given time. She is a forward, balanced ride with a lovely springy quality to her trot. She doesn’t pull or lean and is generally fairly straightforward.

Out hacking or hunting however, Jill really comes into her own. She hunted with the Coakham Bloodhounds on Sunday 29th October 2017 at Underriver and gave her rider the most incredible day’s sport. The pace was fast and furious, but Jill kept up with ease and was the admiration of a fair few of us, as she didn’t pull but was really keen.

Jill stood quietly at the meet and wasn’t at all fazed by hounds, horn or anything else! She popped a variety of the jumps on offer that day, including hunt hurdles, hedges, brush and ditch and took on each of these obstacles calmly and politely, yet so boldly!

Jill also shows good scope over show jumps and pops coloured poles in much the same positive but relaxed way.

She has been used on Sally’s cross country group lesson, and again, really showed her worth as she flew everything she was pointed at and gave her partner an enthusiastic, fun and straight forward session out in our fields.

Also a really safe hack, Jill is well behaved in traffic and not spooky in the slightest.

The total package, Jill is consistent and utterly reliable in every way. She is quite positively the least ‘mareish’ mare I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with and comes across as a very content, happy horse with a really sweet, affectionate personality.
