14.3hh Chesnut Mare, Year of birth 2010
Dolly was imported from Ireland by Sally in June of 2016.
This superb compact cob would ideally suit as a fun all-rounder and has so much to offer both for the nervous and more experienced rider.
As you can see from her pictures, she was taken out hunting with the Coakham Bloodhounds on Sunday 9th April 2017 and gave her rider (Sally) a splendid days sport out in the Kent countryside! Light on her feet with a great turn of speed, she was adjustable enough to open up across long galloping stretches before popping down into trot to tackle a slippery gateway or tight bend. Well-mannered enough to stand quietly both at the meet and in between each hunt, she allowed her rider to really relax and enjoy the day.
Due to Sally assisting with a badly injured whilst on the third hunt, I personally had to lead Dolly the 4 miles back home from my own horse (see pictures!) Dolly proved just how adaptable she is, even plodding over the A21!
This super smart mare is a joy to ride in the arena as she is so responsive, but completely sane and sensible. With a fantastic active trot, she rides nicely off of the leg into a light contact. She has a very correct way of going and for this reason she could easily make the transition into showing or Dressage.
Dolly is also great fun to ride around a course of show jumps, as she is enthusiastic without being over the top! She really enjoys her jumping and takes her rider into a fence in a lovely positive manner, but doesn’t take a hold, staying in a good, consistent rhythm.
So kind hearted, Dolly is a breeze to handle. She has been used on our Pony Days and is perfectly behaved around children, standing like a rock while a small army of our younger riders groomed and tacked up for a lesson!
Totally game, this clever cookie will turn her hoof to anything and so is sure to bring a lot of fun and enjoyment into her new owner’s life.
Dearly loved by both our riding school clients and the staff; we will be sorry to see this smashing mare go!
Dolly is sold with an Irish Piebald & Skewbald Association passport.
